Money Beyond Numbers

Financial Planning that actually makes cents

Hey, I’m Bec

- a Financial Planner that has a knack for wrangling your dollars into a plan to make the life that you want to live actually happen.

I’m here to help you navigate through your financial fog with a bit more ease and a lot less ‘what the heck do I do’s’.

Because when all aspects of your financial world are working for you, life can feel pretty magical. But when they’re not? It can feel like you’re up you-know-what creek without a paddle in sight.

I should know - been there, done that, got the t-shirt (it was on sale)

Stepping into the adult world, I was blissfully unaware that managing money was a lot less like taking a leisurely stroll and more like running headfirst through a maze with its twists, turns and occasional booby traps (hello unexpected expenses!).

I quickly realised that I had no clue about money, beyond work-spend-repeat. I found myself in my rock-bottom moment having a breakdown in aisle five of a supermarket over just how much money was kicking my behind.

That day, I promised myself that I would never be in that position again.

I decided to overhaul my finances and learn anything and everything I could about money to ensure that I - and eventually others - could feel confident and in control of their own financial destiny. And so I learned how to make a paddle.

I dove head-first into the world of finance, absorbing every piece of information I could find. I treated my bank account as a science experiment - testing what worked, tweaking what didn’t - and gradually, it started to grow.

Money became something that worked for me in the background, doing what it needed to without my constant attention. Creating a plan for my money empowered me to shift my focus from the day-to-day nitty-gritty of money management and start thinking about what I wanted for my life. No longer bogged down in just trying to get by, I found myself able to channel my energy and brain space into what truly matters—living life on my terms.

So, 11 years ago, I hit the books and entered the Financial Planning world to help others do the same.

Making Cents of Money provides people with straight-up, no-BS financial advice so that they can live life on their own terms.

Together, we craft a plan for your money to ensure you can live a great life today AND tomorrow.

My philosophy is simple:

I get to understand you, your life, what’s important to you, and design a financial plan to suit. Because money is so much more than numbers - it’s our thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences too. We’ll design you a plan that considers things from all angles and fits you like your favourite pair of jeans.

We’ll look at your whole financial world - from your day-to-day money management, superannuation, personal insurances and investing - and get everything working together for you so you can actively move towards everything you’re hoping to see, do and experience.

However, please click the big red X button if you’re chasing the allure of get-rich-quick schemes. In the spirit of the tortoise and the hare, I believe in establishing strong financial foundations and building on them over time. This ensures that any financial moves you make are sustainable ones, ones that will translate into money wins both now and in many years to come.

Most importantly, we work together to find the right balance between life now and life later, to ensure you can grow your wealth without sacrifice or deprivation, and to align your money with everything that is truly important to you.

I’m also hyper-aware that financial advice typically doesn’t feel very welcoming for many people.

It can feel like an exclusive circle, where people in too-tight, overly expensive suits throw around jargon that should stay buried in a textbook. They also laugh you out of the office if you have the audacity to ask a question - an office that you must get to between the hours of 9 and 5.

At Making Cents of Money, I’m here to change that.

Think of a financial planning conversation as a coffee catch-up with a friend. I’m all about stripping back the complexity of money and making it accessible, understandable, and dare I say, fun. No jargon, no intimidation, just straightforward guidance tailored to your life.

Here's how we make it happen:

Online or face-to-face meetings that allow us to connect wherever you feel most comfortable—yes, PJs are totally encouraged!

First meetings on the house, without any obligation, so you can decide if I’m the right fit for you, free from any pressure.

Flexible scheduling, including after-hours appointments, because life doesn’t just happen between 9 and 5.

So let’s start making your money work for you, in a way that actually makes cents.

HEAR IT FROM OUR CLIENTS

I can say in all honesty that Bec has changed my life. She took a debt-riddled, chronically ill, no-idea-how-to-money "adult" and turned me into a financially literate, homeowning, debt-free (except the mortgage), share-holding, actual grown up. She is extremely knowledgeable but never makes you feel like an idiot, she is relatable, honest, and trustworthy, hugely generous, and she is just a downright lovely human being to work with. She is absolutely not what you expect from a financial planner and that is her major strength. I thought you could only get financial advice from stuffy old men who you had nothing in common with - but Bec builds such beautiful rapport because she gets you and she gets your life stage. I'm sure she would be helpful for those of any age, but her cash flow programs and wonderful insight will help any millennial stop being scared of their money and their future. Her empathy and rapport set her apart and I know I'm not her only fan - all the people I have sent to Bec have raved about her ability to break down complicated financial concepts into easy-to-digest information, empowering them to take control of their future. Thank you for everything you do, Bec - and thank you for helping me become the person I am today. I couldn't have done it without you.
